International Household Goods News Update

January 23, 2024

Some great news on a longtime issue where relocating transferee’s information is made publicly available via the shipping manifest for their household’s goods coming into the US.

The International Association of Movers (IAM), Worldwide ERC, and the Moving Storage Conference of the American Trucking Associations have been collectively pushing for legislation that would require US Customs and Border Protection to remove all personally identifiable information from cargo manifests before making that information public.

This morning IAM announced that this legislation has been passed and is closer than ever to becoming a reality. The next steps are final signing by the Senate and then off to President Biden.
