Household Goods Shipping Update

April 8, 2026

As you have heard, Iran and the United States have agreed to a two-week ceasefire. Part of the agreement is the opening of the Straight of Hormuz; however, the conditions of that are still unclear.

Iranian officials said they would offer safe passage in coordination with their armed forces. However, its coastguards warned any ship trying to transit without permission would be “targeted and destroyed”. They are also stating that there are still attacks from Israel, which may deter them from allowing open passage.

After 40-plus days of this conflict, an estimated 2,000 ships are stuck in the Gulf, and it will take time to get them out and restore global shipping patterns, once normal volumes resume.

For good news, oil prices have dropped today, which should bring fuel prices down in the coming weeks.

More updates on this fluid situation to come.
