Household Goods Shipping Update

October 8, 2024

Thankfully, workers at the ports from Maine to Texas are busy processing the backlog of ships from last week’s short-lived strike and will be caught up by Friday. While they have successfully negotiated a 61.5% wage increase over the next five years, they must agree on the more significant issue. The port operators want more efficiency by adding more technology to the ports, which the union is fighting against. They have three months to sort this out to avoid another strike.

Hurricane Milton has become a significant threat as it travels east across the Gulf of Mexico, with landfall expected in Florida tomorrow. Tampa International Airport has closed this morning, with other air and seat ports following suit over the next 24 hours.

We are working closely with our partners, transferees, and clients this week to reschedule any of our work as needed.
